Please vote for Al Gore in next week's Presidential Election. George Whatamoron Bush is an ignorant redneck who opposes abortion but doesn't believe there should be a waiting period prior to gun sales. Doesn't make much sense does it?

Sunday night. Enjoyed a fabulous dinner of chicken marsala cooked by Mom. I'm relaxing on the couch watching TV. Knock at the door. My annoying drunken neighbor Jeff shows up with his marine brother in law. Jeff kept grabbing my feet as I yelled at him to leave me alone. Marine-boy watched and smiled. Then my Mom mentions my age. "Wow! I thought she was like 15..." Thanks. My parents go to sleep and the two drunks decide they want to stay. We play some Jenga and UNO. Marine-boy flirts with me. Jeff just drinks some more. Announces Marine-Boy, "Yeah, you have that whole Lolita/jailbait thing going on. Very appealing since you're really legal..." Ewwww. Marine-Boy is on a 3-week leave from the service and staying with Jeff and his wife. Wonderful. "Let's hang out all week!" Um, right. Sure, he's cute with his buzz cut and muscled body, but still. He drinks constantly and I just can't right now. Because if I did I wouldn't stop until a forced stay in Detox was necessary.

So, I might be going to Florida for a week sometime in November. To visit my ex-husband. Two words: free vacation. He's paying for my airline tickets. But I did tell him that this doesn't mean we're getting back together. Never. But a week out of here is much needed.

My psychiatrist started me on a new med, Lamictal. It's an anti-seizure medication that's supposedly successful in treating bipolar disorder. If anyone knows anything about this drug please e-mail me. Are they trying to change me with this barrage of medications constantly prescribed? Maybe I’m manic by nature and drugs can’t fix the problem? But hey, the other option was an intensive 4 weeks stay on a psych ward for ‘observation’ of my symptoms.

Interesting info regarding Bi-Polar disorder:
"While many may know how disabling or dangerous depression can be, few understand the dark side of mania, where the brain and body kick into hyperdrive. According to the NIMH, symptoms of mania include increased energy, activity, restlessness, racing thoughts and rapid talking, excessive "high" or euphoric feelings, extreme irritability and distractibility, decreased need for sleep, unrealistic beliefs in one's abilities and powers, abuse of drugs, particularly cocaine, alcohol, and sleeping medications, provocative, intrusive, or aggressive behavior and denial that anything is wrong."

Wow, hits a nerve - I can relate scarily. And the mania is what disrupts my life the most.

Seems people are arriving at my diary through searches for "cordeliameg". Are you stalking me or is there another CordeliaMeg out there?

Imagine my pleasurable surprise when I opened my mailbox and found Robert Downey Jr. on the cover of this month's Entertainment Weekly. Made my day, really. Glad to see him out of jail and working again. The man is a genius.

And finally, cheers to Nina for placing the Gore/Lieberman button on her diary. If anyone else does the same please e-mail me with your diary URL so I can give you a big smooch.
